Atti di guerra / War plays addresses the hidden and invisible contemporary wars that our society does not see or recognize as such. The gratuitous violence of an episode of bullying and the woman’s body as a conquered territory are the themes of investigation of the two one-act plays that make up the show, the result of a choral work of scenic writing. Four actors on stage, their bodies, sound, light and words. Two different voltages. On the one hand, the will to remain adherent, in the narration, to the acts of violence evoked on stage, without embellishments and without special effects. On the other hand, the tension towards a theatrical language is far from realism which makes it possible to observe the violence of reality through a magnifying glass, capable of isolating details with a surgical gaze.
Due to the type of language used, the show is recommended for ages 16 and up.
TABLE I – A DARK CORNER
The protagonists of the first picture are two teenagers who are dating secretly because no one must know they are together. They meet in a small park where, between games, kisses and provocations, it gets dark. After dark, the park becomes a war zone for a local gang. The boss and his boys have fun with the couple and what begins as a game soon becomes an ultimatum: “with us, or against us”.
TABLE II – THE PACK RULE
The second scene is set in the kitchen of a rented apartment. Three anonymous thirtysomethings, to pass the time, order a home escort online for a low-cost orgy. She has a protocol to follow and hides a secret that the three will experience firsthand. Thus, embrace after embrace, the body of this she, without name or history, becomes the battlefield of ghosts, fears, obsessions and desires.
